Biographical Info

Bishop Robinson was born in Welch, West Virginia to Edgar and Ardeth Robinson.  The family later relocated to New Jersey, where he was educated in the Newark School System.  

In 1973, Edgar married Vanessa Brooks, the daughter of the late District Elder John and Mother Hattie Brooks. Lady Vanessa is a beautiful woman of God, who is a devoted and loving wife and an asset to both her natural and spiritual families.  Bishop and First Lady Robinson are the proud parents of one daughter, Angela Renee’.  Angela is a special gift and a jewel to her parents, as well as the church.

Bishop Robinson is a graduate of Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey.  After graduation he attended the Federal Aviation Administration Academy in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to become an Air Traffic Control Specialist. In 1985, Bishop Robinson was named “Air Traffic Controller of the Year.” After ten years of service, he resigned to answer God’s call to be a great leader and humbled servant.

In 1981, after the death of District Elder John Brooks, Elder Robinson was chosen by the saints and appointed by God to become pastor of Christ Gospel Church. He is a role model, teacher, preacher, pastor, mediator, innovator and intercessor. As Bishop Robinson, the ministers, saints and friends began to experience tremendous growth within the church, the Lord instructed Pastor Robinson to “Arise and Build a Love Center.”  Pastor Robinson shared this vision with the members of Christ Gospel Church.  After many years of prayer and sacrifice, the vision came to fruition.  On Sunday, April 17, 2005, the Pastor and members celebrated the official dedication of “Christ Gospel Church “Love Center.” This beautiful multi-faceted edifice has been a “beacon of light” within the Community…“for the people had a mind to work.” Pastor Robinson and the saints, celebrated with the message from Psalms 118, “This is the Lords doing and it is marvelous in our eyes.” Pastor Robinson is one who is very actively involved, respected, and an influential member of the Community, local, state and in many noteworthy organizations.  

Bishop Robinson is a lifelong member of the New Jersey District Council (NJDC) of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc. He has served in many capacities;  such as Convention Coordinator, Vice Chairman and Chairman.  In 1990, Elder Robinson was appointed District Elder and in 2001, he was consecrated as Suffragan Bishop.

In April 2014, Suffragan Bishop Robinson was unanimously nominated by the Executive Board of the New Jersey District Council to become its next Diocesan. Then in August of 2014, during a glorious International Convention in Detroit, Michigan, he was consecrated by the Presiding Prelate, Bishop Charles H. Ellis, III, as a Bishop of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc. (PAW, Inc.).  On Saturday, September 6, 2014, before a cloud of witnesses at Christ Gospel Church “Love Center,” Bishop Robinson was installed as Diocesan of the 21stEpiscopal Diocese of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc. by Bishop Ellis.  

Bishop is blessed and appreciative to serve with and be surrounded by a dedicated church family. His outstanding support staff is led by Assistant Pastor Hannah Boone, Associate Pastor Larry Matthews and a host of anointed and faithful ministry leaders, saints and friends that have contributed to the tremendous growth of the church.

Bishop Robinson has accomplished many goals in his life with the help of the Lord.  His focus has been and continues to be … winning souls for the Kingdom of God.  He believes that “we have the power to be more than we are.”
