Bishop Robinson was born in Welch, West Virginia to Edgar and Ardeth Robinson. The family later relocated to New Jersey, where he was educated in the Newark School System.
In 1973, Edgar married Vanessa Brooks, the daughter of the late District Elder John and Mother Hattie Brooks. Lady Vanessa is a beautiful woman of God, who is a devoted and loving wife and an asset to both her natural and spiritual families. Bishop and First Lady Robinson are the proud parents of one daughter, Angela Renee’. Angela is a special gift and a jewel to her parents, as well as the church.
Bishop Robinson is a graduate of Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. After graduation he attended the Federal Aviation Administration Academy in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to become an Air Traffic Control Specialist. In 1985, Bishop Robinson was named “Air Traffic Controller of the Year.” After ten years of service, he resigned to answer God’s call to be a great leader and humbled servant.
In 1981, after the death of District Elder John Brooks, Elder Robinson was chosen by the saints and appointed by God to become pastor of Christ Gospel Church. He is a role model, teacher, preacher, pastor, mediator, innovator and intercessor. As Bishop Robinson, the ministers, saints and friends began to experience tremendous growth within the church, the Lord instructed Pastor Robinson to “Arise and Build a Love Center.” Pastor Robinson shared this vision with the members of Christ Gospel Church. After many years of prayer and sacrifice, the vision came to fruition. On Sunday, April 17, 2005, the Pastor and members celebrated the official dedication of “Christ Gospel Church “Love Center.” This beautiful multi-faceted edifice has been a “beacon of light” within the Community…“for the people had a mind to work.” Pastor Robinson and the saints, celebrated with the message from Psalms 118, “This is the Lords doing and it is marvelous in our eyes.” Pastor Robinson is one who is very actively involved, respected, and an influential member of the Community, local, state and in many noteworthy organizations.
Bishop Robinson is a lifelong member of the New Jersey District Council (NJDC) of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc. He has served in many capacities; such as Convention Coordinator, Vice Chairman and Chairman. In 1990, Elder Robinson was appointed District Elder and in 2001, he was consecrated as Suffragan Bishop.
In April 2014, Suffragan Bishop Robinson was unanimously nominated by the Executive Board of the New Jersey District Council to become its next Diocesan. Then in August of 2014, during a glorious International Convention in Detroit, Michigan, he was consecrated by the Presiding Prelate, Bishop Charles H. Ellis, III, as a Bishop of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc. (PAW, Inc.). On Saturday, September 6, 2014, before a cloud of witnesses at Christ Gospel Church “Love Center,” Bishop Robinson was installed as Diocesan of the 21stEpiscopal Diocese of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc. by Bishop Ellis.
Bishop is blessed and appreciative to serve with and be surrounded by a dedicated church family. His outstanding support staff is led by Assistant Pastor Hannah Boone, Associate Pastor Larry Matthews and a host of anointed and faithful ministry leaders, saints and friends that have contributed to the tremendous growth of the church.
Bishop Robinson has accomplished many goals in his life with the help of the Lord. His focus has been and continues to be … winning souls for the Kingdom of God. He believes that “we have the power to be more than we are.”
Vanessa “Special” Robinson was born and raised in the southern part of New Jersey. She was baptized in Jesus’ name and filled with the baptism of the Holy Ghost, while under the pastorate of her father, the Late (great), District Elder John W. Brooks. She pursued her education at various institutions of Higher Learning and presently holds a Certified Real Estate License with the State of New Jersey.
As a former “Preacher’s Kid” (PK), Lady Vanessa knows that she is blessed and highly favored to have been connected to this great ministry since infancy and is indeed an anointed vessel and vital part of the body of Christ. She is humble and counts it a privilege and an honor to have been chosen, to assist, and serve beside her husband.
Lady Vanessa is a lover of God’s Word and believes that it is relevant and the “Road Map for our Lives.” God has used her and continues to use her in various areas of the ministry, as she can always be found doing, “whatsoever her hands find to do.” Currently, she serves as Executive Assistant to her husband and the church.
Lady Vanessa was consecrated as Minister in the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc. in 2012. She has been the organizer of: “Reading through the Bible, Bible bowl contest on local and state levels. She has also hosted seminars entitled, “Ask the panel” and “The Spiritual View.”
She and Bishop Robinson are blessed with one beautiful, gifted and talented adult daughter, Angela Renee’, who serves as the Minister of Music at the “Love Center.”
A Daughter, Mother, Wife, Praiser, First Lady and Dedicated Servant…Lady Vanessa is loved, respected and admired by the “Love Center” and the NJDC families.

Evangelist Hannah F. Boonehas served as the Assistant Pastor of the Christ Gospel Church “Love Center” of Whitesboro, New Jersey for over 25 years and has been a member for over 45 years. She comes from an ecclesiastical family and is the daughter of Evangelist Rhoda Rice and Deacon Joseph Rice.
Her spiritual roots were developed as a member of Christ Gospel Church in Atlantic City for 23 years under the leadership of Bishop Hobert Taliaferro. At an early age, God was pulling on the heart of Pastor Boone and she was baptized in Jesus name and filled with the precious gift of the Holy Ghost at age 8. She then heard the call of God for a life of ministry at the young age of 14. She heeded that call and God anointed her life for service.
Evangelist Boone later joined Christ Gospel Church in Whitesboro under the leadership of District Elder John Brooks, where the Lord strengthened her greatly. As souls were being added to the kingdom at Christ Gospel Church, Pastor Boone transitioned into full-time ministry and was appointed as the Assistant Pastor of the Church under the leadership of Bishop Edgar D. Robinson, Jr. She continues to serve in this capacity to this day. Pastor Boone is a tremendous asset to Bishop Robinson and the CGC “Love Center” family. She is instrumental in many areas of service, including the startup of the Women’s Recovery Group, initiating the morning Prayer Line, training the ministerial staff, counseling those in need, comforting the bereaved, visiting the sick, teaching, preaching, praying and serving in any capacity as God has called. Pastor Boone has also served for many years with the New Jersey District Council Women’s Ministry as the Vice President and then served as President for over 10 years.
Her life of service and ministry reaches beyond the walls of Christ Gospel and the NJDC. She has preached conferences, revivals, led seminars, and provided spiritual training all over the East Coast. Pastor Boone proclaims, “to the utmost Jesus Saves!” She has a passion for winning souls and witnessing the “new birth” experience. Her life exudes her commitment to God and the joy of the Lord being her strength.
Pastor Boone a widow and proud mother of two daughters, Lori and Kim and three grandchildren. After the passing of her sisters, she accepted the honor of matriarch of her Rice nieces and nephews. She is a mentor and “Godmother” to many others.
Much more can be said about this anointed servant of the Most High God. However, Pastor Boone humbly proclaims that allhonor and all glory belongs to God… if it had not been for God on her side, she would not have been able to stand. “Having obtained help from God, she continues unto this day.” To God be the Glory, he does all things well!
Elder Larry Matthewsis a third-generation Apostolic believer and Associate Pastor of the Christ Gospel Church “Love Center” of Whitesboro, NJ. Elder Larry Matthews is the son of the late Elder Milton Matthews and Evangelist Mattie Mae Matthews, and the grandson of the late Pastor Willie Davis.
He was baptized at the age of 10 at Christ Gospel Church, George and Anna Streets and filled with the precious gift of the Holy Ghost at the age of 17 at Tabernacle Church of Christ in Pleasantville where his father Elder Milton Matthews was the Pastor. He was later led to join Holy Temple Church of Christ in Whitesboro under the leadership of his grandfather Pastor Willie Davis. At the age of 26, Larry answered the call of the Lord and entered a life of ministry.
After many years of serving at Holy Temple, Elder Matthews was led of the Lord to join Christ Gospel Church, under the leadership of Bishop Edgar D. Robinson, Jr. where he continues to thrive. A multi-talented, gifted and anointed servant, Elder Matthews is involved in many ministries. His service has included, Choir Director, Church Trustee, Men’s Ministry President and Sunday School teacher, but greatest of all, a Child of our Most High God! In addition to being a preacher and teacher, Pastor Matthews is also an anointed singer and praise leader. He combines his passion for music with his preaching and teaching ministry. He serves the Lord with gladness and with excellence.
Through the years, Pastor Matthews has also served in many capacities in the New Jersey District Council. An astute bible student, his studies include Aenon Bible College. Pastor Matthews was ordained in 2017 by Bishop Edgar D. Robinson, Jr. of the New Jersey District Council of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc. He serves as Associate Pastor of the Christ Gospel Church “Love Center”, where he continues to serve and assist the people of God to be all that God has called them to be. A man of tremendous faith and conviction, he is a blessing to the Love Center ministry.
Pastor Matthews is blessed to be married for 47 years to Missionary Melody Matthews. He is the proud father of 4 children, 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. God has been faithful! He was blessed to work for Atlantic Electric Co. for over 45 years. He enjoys fishing, cooking, traveling and family time.
His favorite scripture is John 10:10, The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. Pastor Matthews is a living witness to God’s abundant life.
